Matwos Tadesse ’24, a native of Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, who now calls Washington, D.C. home, was a professional circus performer with more than seven years of experience in international performance. He is a multi-award-winning performer who has had the opportunity to travel and experience a variety of cultures and languages. His exposure to these experiences inspired him to choose the field of study he is currently pursuing at Lafayette College, where he became the first black sophomore and black male student to hold the position of student government president. Matwos concentrates on global economic and political development while specializing in international affairs, economics, and government/law. He uses his diverse background to explore leadership, finance, and economics as his next career step. As one of the five Jeff Ubben Fellows for 2022, Matwos was given a chance to work with and interview David Solomon, the CEO of Goldman Sachs, by the Posse Foundation. Additionally, he collaborated with Goldman Sachs’ Executive Office and the Sovereign Wealth Fund Coverage team in the Investment Banking Division. Matwos has experience working on various initiatives, including community development, DEI, student conduct, human resources, and social media management.
